FIGHTING FOR THE RIGHTS OF PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV IN KUNMING, CHINA

“The project opened a whole new window at the Righteous Law Firm and a fresh new area for our work," said Kunming lawyer Dayong Zhou. "In this area on HIV and law, no one is doing anything. There has been legal research conducted, but I have not seen any kind of legal aid before this.”

He says the Guidebook to HIV/AIDS and the law: Yunnan, China (in English and in Chinese),  published by the joint project in 2008 has also been very useful. “(It) is welcomed by people living with HIV and grassroots self-help groups. It is an important document in our work, too, at the law firm. We use it in the training for lawyers and legal lessons for people living with HIV.”
